Violet Voss Ride or Die Eyeshadow Palette Review, Full Swatch + Swatch Comparisons
Heyyyy Beauties
Violet Voss recently released a new palette called the Ride or Die palette and today, I am going to be talking about and fully swatching it
Description/Review of Violet Voss Ride or Die Palette
📷
The Violet Voss Ride or Die Palette is a limited edition palette that contains 42 different shades in Matte, Shimmery and Satin finishes. Each shade contains 1.6 grams (0.05 ounces) of product, giving the palette a total of 67.2 grams (2.37 ounces) of product. The shadows are made in China and have a shelf life of 24 months.
Physically, the formula of each and every shade is very good and ALL shades are amazing. I didn’t find one bad shade in the entire palette. The mattes and satins are extremely soft, creamy and pigmented. The shimmers are soooo bright and beautiful and work really nicely on the eyes. There is soooo many shades and the amount of looks that can be created is endless. While I did find some shades repetitive, the tone was always darker or lighter and can be used for so many different things things so that’s nothing bad. There are a really good amount of transition shades, crease shades and lid shades and as I said, the amount of looks you can create is crazy. You could certainly use this palette and this palette alone everyday if you needed to because it is that type of palette that contains everything you need.
Chemically, the base formula contains 8 ingredients, making it a very simple and basic formula. When I say ‘base formula’, I am referring to the ingredient list before individual pigment chemicals are added.
📷
Just to explain briefly, the ingredients in the base formula are the ingredients that are in ALL shades. A pigment list is added to the bottom of the base formula and labelled as ‘may contain’ . This means that not all shades are going to contain every single pigment ingredient listed, only certain ones. This is why when analysing formula’s, I have to seperate the pigment chemicals from the main chemicals in the base formula so that I can assess the part I need to. While I do take the pigment chemicals into consideration while analysing a product, the chemicals in the base formula are the most important and are the ones that determines how the product works, etc. I am going to write a full post on this soon so I will talk about that more then but I just wanted to explain so you can understand what I say about this formula better.
The 8 ingredients in the formula include Mica, Talc, Jojoba Oil, Kaolin, Magnesium Stearate, Phenyl Trimethicone, Tridecyl Trimellitate and Phenoxyethanol. All of these ingredients are added to the formula to make the eyeshadow work and look and feel like it does. The exception to this is Jojoba Oil, which does have some beneficial characteristics in regards to the skin and isn’t purely added for function.
📷
Jojoba Oil is a emollient agent that has multiple benefits for the skin. It is rich in Vitamin E and minerals, works well on the skin, is temperature stable, and softens and smooths the skin, among other things. Jojoba Oil is also an essential oil. I am unsure how much of an impact Jojoba Oil has in an eyeshadow because eyeshadow is only applied to the small eye area and so would be present in pretty low concentrations (Note- I am unsure of exact concentrations that ingredients are present in because companies are not required to disclose that).
Nonetheless, Violet Voss include the benefits of Jojoba Oil in their marketing and it is printed on the box, meaning they do use it to distinguish themselves from other brands that have a similar basic formula.
All in all, the eyeshadow formula works absolutely amazing physically, and has a nice, basic formula. I absolutely love the quality of the shadows and as you will see in the swatches, they are extremely pigmented and work very good on the eyes. The shades in the palette are all beautiful, and I totally recommend trying this babe.
The Violet Voss Ride or Die Palette costs $99.97 AUD ($75.00 USD) and can be purchased from Violet Voss Online
Now, let’s get into the shades and swatches babes!!!
