Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Shimmering Powder Description/Review

The Urban Decay Naked Shimmering Powder is an illuminating powder that is highly glittery/shimmery. As the name suggests, it can be used both on the face and the body. I am going to go over some headings including packaging available shades, swatches in luminous, consistency/pigmentation/shelf life/amount, lasting power/wear and an overall summary/review of the product. I will also include where to buy links and links to some of my other posts at the end.

Packaging

The Urban Decay Illuminated Shimmering Powder packaging is absolutely beautiful. The packaging reminds me of marble and as you can see , the illuminator comes in a beautiful pan and box. I have to say, the packaging does lure you in because its amazing. There is a little opening/compartment at the bottom of the box where the included brush is kept. Also, there is a mirror included.

Available Shades/Shade Range

There are 3 shades available in the Naked Illuminator shade range. It is a pretty small shade range but there will be a shade that will suit everyone because it is shimmer and not pure pigment. The name of the 3 shades are Luminous, Lit and Aura

Naked Shimmering Powder Swatch in ‘Luminous’

The shade Luminous is a champagne gold shimmer shade. It is very light and because of this, comes up way better on tanned skin than it does pale skin, as you will see in the swatches below. This is because it isn’t a highlighter and is instead an illuminator, which just means it is designed to give you a shimmer but not necessarily pigment.

Consistency/Pigmentation/Shelf Life/Amount of Product

The consistency of the illuminator is powdery. It isn’t buttery or creamy like many highlighters and is chalky when you feel it. It does go on the skin nicely and is very light in texture.

The pigmentation of the illuminators is low but the shimmer is high. It’s not a colored highlighter and as the name suggests , is a shimmering illuminator powder as opposed to a colored one. When you apply it you can see it under bright light but it’s difficult to see under normal light. It is more of an illuminator than highlighter and is shimmery and glittery with minimal pigmentation.

The shelf life of the Urban Decay Naked Illuminator is 24 months (2 years) and the product comes with 6 grams (0.2 ounces) of product. This means you have 2 whole years to use 6 grams of product before it becomes susceptible to rancidity and microorganism growth. Two years is a really good length for a product to last.

Lasting Power/Wear

The Naked Urban Decay Illuminator has a long lasting power and wears really good, and it passed my 8-hour wear test. Even though it was hard to build it up, I didn’t lose any shimmer through the day and it didn’t rub off. The wear is really good and it doesn’t mix with foundation horribly or end up a mess. All in all, I am very happy with the lasting power and wear of the product. It’s so sparkly and pretty.

Included Brush

The Naked Shimmering Powder comes with a brush for applying the product. The brush sits in the compartment under the actual illuminator

Overall Review/Summary of Naked Shimmering Powder

All in all, I do like the Naked Illuminated Shimmering Powder by Urban Decay. It is a shimmery illuminator and not a pigmented highlighter but I do love the shimmer effect. If you like shimmery illuminators this product is for you but if you prefer pigmented colour highlighters, you might not like this product. You should refer to my swatches above to decide.
