Frank Body Shimmer Body Scrub Review + Full Physical, Chemical, Marketing and Price Analysis

Heyyyyyy Beauties

Frank Body has a range of skincare items and today I am going to be talking about the  limited edition Shimmer Scrub

Frank Body Shimmer Scrub Description/Details

The Frank Body Shimmer Scrub is a Body Exfoliator. It contains 200 grams (7.05 ounces) of product, has a shelf life of 12 months and is made in Australia. The scrub costs $22.00 AUD ($16.39 USD) and can be purchased from Frank Body Online and Mecca.

The product is ‘limited edition’, but Frank Body have already opened a sign up type thing asking people if they want it back and to sign if so.  Honestly, there is no way they won’t bring it back lol, It will become a permanent item, I’m almost positive.

How/When To Use

1• Massage over skin in circular motions

2• Leave 2-3 minutes before rinsing thoroughly

3• Use 3-5 times per week

Physical Analysis

I am going to go over some physical aspects of the product including texture/consistency, packaging, smell and feel/how it works. I will then move on to the chemical, marketing and price analysis.

Packaging

The Packaging of the Shimmer Scrub is amazing. It is all holographic. You get an outer box, and then on the inside there is a zip-lock bag with the product in it.. Both the box and zip-lock bag have the holographic packaging. The zip-lock bag makes it so easy to use and store the scrub, which is really handy. You can just take it into t he shower and lock it once done. The zip-lock bag also helps the product stay better for longer.

Overall, I absolutely love the packaging, it’s amazing and very practical.

Consistency/Texture

The Consistency of the Shimmer Scrub is grainy and sugary. It feels like sand, but the grains are a bit bigger than sand.

Smell

The Smell of the Shimmery Scrub is a very strong coffee smell. This smell is quite pleasent to me, but if you hate the smell of coffee you will hate the smell of this. The smell doesn’t linger after use and in the shower you can hardly smell it.

Feel/How It Works

📷

The Frank Body Shimmer Body Scrub is a sugary, grainy exfoliating scrub that deeply cleans and exfoliates the skin. It is essentially the shimmer version of the brown Coffee Scrub by Frank Body.

The Shimmer Scrub is yellow in colour, so it’s so much less messy than the normal Coffee Scrub. It doesn’t leave a heaps pigmented shimmer on the skin and it’s very subtle.

📷

You can hardly see any shimmer unless you look at your skin under flash lighting, which in my opinion is really good. I don’t want messy glitter all over me so I was glad when this didn’t do that.

The Shimmer Scrub deeply exfoliates the skin, getting any muck or debris off. It conditions the skin, leaving it SUPER soft, smooth and moisturised afterwards.

I wanted to see if this would help getting the rest of my fake-tan off. I did find that I did need to exfoliate with exfoliating gloves first, and then go over my skin and massage the scrub in. This gets any left over bits of tan off, which is amazing because anything that will help in the tan exfoliation process is good.

Overall, the Frank Shimmer Scrub is an amazing body exfoliator that leaves the skin extremely clean and super soft and moisturised.

Marketing Analysis

Is the product marketed accurately??

📷

In order to assess the accuracy of marketing, I looked up how Frank Body markets the product and then made up questions that I set out to answer to see how true marketing is. Frank Body describes the product by saying……

Frank’s Original Coffee Scrub has been given a disco-worthy makeover with this limited edition body scrub, loaded with shimmer (aptly named ‘glow dust’) to grant the perfect luminous, healthy-looking sheen. The usual suspects are in there too, with skin-smoothing roasted and ground robusta coffee beans, glow-giving grapeseed oil and nourishing vitamin e working their magic to give you your softest bod yet”

Questions I Have After Reading Marketing

Does the shimmer scrub exfoliate, moisturise and leave the skin with a subtle shimmer? 📷

The Shimmer Scrub does exfoliate, moisturise and leave the skin with a subtle shimmer.  Sugar and grains in the scrub get right into the skin, fully cleansing and exfoliating it.

The scrub contains a variety of moisturising ingredients. The multiple moisturising ingredients in the formula hydrate and nourish the skin. These ingredients include Vitamin E, Coffee Bean Extract, Grapefruit Extract, Beta-Carotene, Glycine Soja Extract, Saccharum Officinarum Extract (Sugar Cane Extract) and Daucus Carota Extract.

The Shimmer Scrub does leave the skin with a VERY subtle shimmer. You can hardly see it unless you flash your phone light on the skin. For me, I am glad it’s subtle. The last thing I want is fine bits of glitter all over my skin.

Frank body have accurately marketed this claim because the scrub does exfoliate, moisturise and make the skin glow subtly.

📷

Are coffee beans (ground robusta coffee beans) in the formula? Do they smooth the skin?

Coffee Beans are in the formula as Coffea Arabica Bean Extract. Coffee Extract is a skin conditioning agent that has many benefits including moisturising, nourishing and smoothing the skin, maintaining it in good condition, protecting against damage by free radicals, slowing down the signs of aging, among many more.

Frank Body have accurately marketed the skin smoothing properties of Coffee Extract.

📷

Is Grapeseed Oil in the formula and does it make the skin glow?

📷

Grapeseed Oil is in the formula as Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil (proper chemical name). Grapeseed Oil is a plant based emollient and antioxidant agent that protects the skin from external factors, nourishes and moisturises the skin and evens the skintone. It is high in Vitamins, meaning it can make the skin more plump and can reduce the signs of aging such as wrinkles and fine lines.

In regards to glow, I’m not sure what Frank Body means. Grapeseed Extract can make the skin more bright that’s for sure, but I’m not sure what frank body actually means by ‘Glow’. Grapeseed will give you a glow from within, not a visible one though, I don’t get it.

📷

Grapeseed Oil is an amazing ingredient with many, many benefits. What I find extremely odd here is that Frank Body markets Grapefruit Extract as an ingredient to ‘make the skin ‘glow’, when it actually has many more beneficial characteristics. Again, the antioxidant properties and vitamin components of Grapeseed Oil can make the skin brighter, but this is a glow from within and not a visable one.

All in all,  Grapeseed Oil does have many beneficial characteristics.

📷

Is Vitamin E in the formula and does it nourish the skin?

Vitamin E is in the formula as Tocopherol (proper chemical name of natural Vitamin E). Tocopherol is an antioxidant agent that has many benefits for the skin including protecting it from external damage by free radicals, preventing infection, promoting healing, smoothing and moisturising and protecting from the sun. As I said, Tocopherol does deeply moisturise and hydrate the skin, meaning it does contribute to skin nourishment.

Frank Body have accurately marketed the benefits of Vitamin E in the formula.

📷

Does the product make the skin super soft?

The Frank Body Shimmer Scrub contains a variety of moisturising and skin softening ingredients. These include Vitamin E, Grapefruit Extract, Beta-Carotene, Glycine Soja Extract, Daucus Carota Extract, Saccharum Officinarum Extract (Sugar Cane Extract) and Coffea Arabica Bean Extract.

Physically, the scrub leaves the body feeling SOOOOOOO soft!!! After you get out the shower and dry off, the skin is just so creamy and moisturised. I could’t help but keep patting my skin to feel the softness. Frank Body have certainly accurately marketed the skin smoothing claim.

📷

All in all, Frank Body have accurately marketed the Shimmer Scrub. If anything, they have left a lot of good information out. For example, there are more really beneficial ingredients in the formula worth talking about that they haven’t, such as B-Carotene and Sugar Cane Extract. Anyway, marketing is certainly accurate.

📷

Price Analysis

Is this product priced accurately?

$22.00 AUD – $16.39 USD

I think Frank Body has deffo priced the scrub accurately. If anything, it is pretty affordable and they could get away with raising the price a bit. The formula contains multiple beneficial ingredients that have benefits for the skin ,and the product effectively fully cleans and exfoliates the skin.

You get the scrub in amazing packaging and enough product to last you a while. You get a nice zip-lock bag which is so handy and means the product will stay better for longer.

Taking all this into consideration, I believe Frank Body has accurately priced the Shimmer Scrub.

My Overall Thoughts/Conclusion

The Frank Body Shimmer Scrub is the shimmery sister of the Coffee Scrub. It effectively cleanses and exfoliates the skin, making it super clean, soft and hydrated.

All in all, I absolutely love the Frank Body Shimmer Scrub and will continue to use it!!!
