Favourite Fragrances Part 1 - Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Intense EDP Review + Chanel Chance EDP Review

In this post I am going to be talking about two fragrances which I love- Chanel Coco Mademoiselle EDP and Chanel Chance EDP.

1- Coco Mademoiselle Intense EDP by Chanel

Coco Mademoiselle Intense EDP by Chanel is my FAVOURITE fragrance, ever, and I think it always will be. It is simply divine. Coco Mademoiselle is described as an "oriental, woody and ambery" fragrance, and it also has some Citrus characteristics. It was released in 2018 and was created by Olivier Polge.

Coco Mademoiselle Intense has a beautiful mix of citrus, floral and fruity notes, as well as earthy and woodsy notes. As soon as I spray it on me, I am instantly enveloped with happiness and I never get used to how beautiful it smells. I am always smelling my wrist, thinking, oh my god this smells so great, how is it possible!

I have noticed that Coco Mademoiselle is the fragrance I smell when I walk into the fragrance section of my local department store. It is the smell that stands out the most amongst the wide variety of other scents. It is like the Top Note of the fragrance section, you can smell a million other scents but one lingers at the top. It has taken me ages to identify that smell. I wonder if the workers spray Coco Mademoiselle around everywhere to attract people to the fragrance section, or it might just be so they can sit around in bliss all day, lol!

Coco Mademoiselle is a mature yet youthful scent. It has a more fruity, floral smell than Chance EDP (review of Chance below). It is best suited to people in their middle ages, it is not a scent that most extremely young people will like, and I don't think most really mature woman will like it either. I think it is too mature for people in their lower teen years, and I think it is too immature for people over 45. I think the original Coco is definitely suited more towards older woman.

I think it was very smart and needed to create Coco Mademoiselle because over the years as we have moved on and progressed, the original Coco is too outdated and too mature for most people's liking. The original and traditional Coco will always be popular, but the smell of it has aged out over time. I think creating Coco Mademoiselle has closed that gap and gave younger people a better received and more modern spin-off of the original. It has renewed Chanel's fragrance line for younger people, a lot of older people are well aware of the popular fragrance line but younger people sometimes are not as aware of them. I think introducing Coco Mademoiselle has renewed interest in the fragrance line in a way because there are fragrances more suited to the newer generations.

When I think of it, I think of an early/middle aged woman about to drive around in her bug car and go shopping . I picture a flirty and full of energy woman who is fun yet sophisticated and classy. In regards to what season the fragrance best suits, although I can and do wear it all times of the year, when I spray it i think of the warmer months, hence why I think of a woman about to drive shopping or to the beach for some reason. It has citrus, floral and fruity scents that make it suitable for the warmer months, but it also has those woodsy scents which makes it perfect to wear on a night out or to dinner. It is definitely a feminine fragrance and I don't get any masculine type vibes.

Coco Mademoiselle is very intense and has a very long lasting power as well high silage and it lingers around for a long time. It is the longest lasting fragrance I own, and you don't need to spray heaps for it to linger around and stay on you all day. It also mixes amazingly with every other fragrance I own. When. I mix it with other fragrances I always lay it down first because no matter what, it is going to dominate because it is extremely strong. Every fragrance I have tried mixing with Coco Mademoiselle works, giving you even more ways to wear it. You can mix it with more spicy/woodsy/earthy fragrances to make it more sophisticated for important events such as business meetings, etc, or you can mix it with floral fragrances. to make it more fun and even more flirty, perfect for hanging with friends, casual events and beach days, etc.

The packaging is simple and elegant, yet pretty and not basic. It definitely gives off Chanel vibes. I like the clear bottle and the diamond-like cap, as well as the font on the label, which sits in the centre of the bottle.

Fragrantica is a popular fragrance website that provides information on a wide variety of fragrances. Actually, they have information on pretty much every fragrance known to woman and man kind. For each perfume, they have a vote system which is helpful in determining which notes people can smell the most. It can be extremely hard to identify specific scents and what ones stand out the most, and different people smell completely different thing's, so this voting system helps us narrow it down.

Personally, I can smell the Sicilian Orange the most, as well as the Fruity Notes, Jasmine and Patchouli. I can also smell the Rose, Bergamot and Madagascar Vanilla, although I don't get extreme Vanilla vibes. I also can barely smell the White Musk although I know it's there. My nose hardly detects the Tonka Bean either, although I can identify a woodsy smell which is probably that.

Note- Coco Mademoiselle is the modern version of the original Coco by Chanel fragrance. The original one is still on sale but is different than Coco Mademoiselle. The original Coco is too much of an old fragrance for me , although I can appreciate it. It smells a lot like Elizabeth Taylor's White Diamond fragrance, which is useful if you need a comparison because White Diamond is also extremely popular.

Also, this version of Coco Mademoiselle is the Intense one, which is suppose to be slightly different than the original. From what I have heard, the Intense version is stronger. When I first got a sample, I am pretty sure I got the original and on comparison, ()

It is a more expensive fragrance but it is 1000% worth every cent, and as I said it lasts so long and is so strong , you don't need to spray heaps so a bottle lasts a long time.

2- Chance EDP by Chanel

Chance by Chanel is my second favourite fragrance after Coco Mademoiselle. Chance is described as a "floral fragrance that intertwines Pink Pepper, Jasmine and Amber Patchouli". The Pink Pepper and other Spicy notes in Chance mix so well with the Floral notes, making it a perfect and unique smell . It is not an extremely spicy , but it isn't an extremely floral smell either. Chance was created by Jacques Polge and released in 2005.

Chance is definitely more spicy than florally, and when you first spray it, it can be hard to identify any floral smell at all. However, as the Top Notes of Pink Pepper wear down a bit after a few hours, the Middle Notes of Jasmine and Iris become more noticeable, although it is still not an overly floral fragrance and you can always still smell the stronger spicy notes.

Chance EDP by Chanel is certainly more of a mature fragrance. When I smell it, I think of a 20-40 age range. It is not a typical fragrance for young woman, who tend to like more floral scents. It is definitely more of a mature and sophisticated scent, but it's not TOO mature. When I think of fragrances suited for very mature ages, I always think of Elizabeth Arden White Diamonds or the Original Coco by Chanel. Of-course, any age range can wear any fragrance and suit it, but I do think of the mid age range when I smell it. I always think automatically of a woman who is a lawyer or businesswoman with a suit and a briefcase with black heels when I spray this fragrance. It reminds me of sophistication and independence.

Chance is not an extremely overly feminine smell but it's certainly not masculine either. Again, I think this comes down to the perfect mix of the florals with the spicy and woodsy notes. Jacques Polge, who created the fragrance, did a perfect job in my opinion.

In regards to which season it best suits, even though I think any fragrance suits any season, I think it is best suited to the Fall/Winter season because summer/spring fragrances usually have more noticeable floral scents. I think Coco Mademoiselle is probably better suited to the warmer months than Chance, but again, you can wear it in any season.

Chance mixes perfectly with Coco Mademoiselle and i wear them together most of the time, although they are both beautiful alone also. Although they share some common notes - Jasmine, Patchouli, Vanilla and Musk- they are very different. They compliment each other pretty well, and Chance can also be mixed with a wide variety of other fragrances to create a unique scent. I think it goes good with more floral scents because it provides a nice bit of spicy/woodsy/earthy notes and makes extremely floral fragrances less intense.

The packaging is nice, it is plain yet sheik. I like the clear bottle, and even though it's not a big deal, it comes in a light pink box, which I love (light pink is my absolute favourite colour) , so this is a bonus for me. Of course, I keep the boxes lol.

Personally, I can smell Pink Pepper, Patchouli, Jasmine and Iris the most. It's hard for me to smell the Vanilla and Musk, although I know it's there, my nose doesn't identify those notes first.

As you can see in Australia, Chemist Warehouse has the cheapest price for Chance, although the price I got was the fragrance on sale. However, Chemist Warehouse pretty much always has a sale on, I never see the sale prices change lol. If you can, buy it from here to save some money.

Chance is another more expensive fragrance but is worth every cent in my opinion. It is strong and has a long lasting power, so you don't need to spray heaps and a bottle with last you a while. Even after a shower at the end of the day, the fragrance lingers on your skin where you have sprayed it. I always get the 35 mL bottle of both Coco Mademoiselle and Chance, which is the lowest volume you can get, and I use them very frequently, and it takes me months and months and months to even do a good dint in the amount.

I will say I am sooooo stingy with how much I spray because I don't want it to run out even though I know I won't for ages. Both of them (Coco Mademoiselle and Chance) are such beautiful fragrances that I hate the thought of wasting them lol. I like putting a fragrance on after i get out of the shower at night but I always go for another fragrance because I don't like wasting Chanel fragrances on non-special events or when I'm not going out. They are just so luxurious and are my favourite so I am super careful with them. I also like to get a small sample size from In-Store or on Ebay because I am not a fan of carrying around the full bottle in my handbag.

Chanel Fragrances are extremely popular and this is for a reason, they are beautiful! There is so many fragrances and so many variations of the same fragrance.

Coco Mademoiselle Intense EDP and Chance EDP are my two favourite fragrances by Chanel, although I do like others, these two stand out for me. I like Gabrielle and the original Coco, and I have also tried the other variations of Chance, such as the Eau Tendre version. Chanel also has a popular Male Fragrance line, and I like Bleu EDP. Even though Bleu is a male's fragrance, I love it mixed with Coco Mademoiselle, which makes it smell more feminine, yet provides a strong backbone.

Since Chanel fragrances are expensive, it is a good idea to get samples first to see what ones you want to commit to buy. You can get these samples in-store, or you can get them from eBay and other sites. There are people who buy full fragrances just to split them into sample sizes and sell them, and I usually find these people on eBay, although I am sure you can find them on other app's and sites too. Or, you could just go in-store and sample the fragrances that way.

Fragrance review's are the most tricky because different people like different scents and different noses perceive smells differently. I recommend reading other reviews, which I will link below, or just getting a sample or going in to try the fragrance in store. It is impossible for one fragrance to satisfy every person, and I have found that negative reviews of fragrances I have read in the past have sometimes stopped me from buying until I actually ordered a sample or tried it in store, and realised that I actually loved the scent. Conversely, you could read a raving review and get the fragrance and then end up hating it. Fragrances can get quite expensive, and if you get a full bottle of something and hate it, it will be a waste of money unless you can sell it. So sample, sample, sample! And try a fragrance yourself to make your own choice. If you don't want to go in-store or if you want to have time to see if you actually like the fragrance - it can take a few wears to really know- again, sites like eBay are really good to get sample sizes. Just type the fragrance name in followed by 'Sample' and see what comes up. Most of the time the seller will be selling authentic fragrances, but just check out how many they have sold to see if they are reputable, etc.

Getting sample sizes is also really good for having a version of the fragrance for your handbag. I hate lugging around a full bottle, especially if it is one of my more expensive fragrances that I would hate to see broken.
